Key Phases in Advanced Analytics projects

Advanced analytics projects, including those involving machine learning modeling and execution, often require more iterations than traditional business intelligence work. While they build on existing data and reporting foundations, they go further by emphasizing higher data quality, careful selection of features and properties, and rigorous validation of models to ensure statistical soundness.
  • Business Understanding
    Here we work with you to define what is the goal of the project, for example, Customer Sentiment Analysis or Churn Prediction. We will also work with you to define the success metrics (e.g., accuracy, recall, RMSE, lift).
  • Data Understanding
    Identify available data sources (CRM, email campaigns, surveys, social media, etc.) and analyze data structure, volume, and quality. We perform basic exploratory analysis (e.g., distributions, missing data, initial correlations).
  • Data Preparation
    We start with cleaning the data such as missing values, duplicates, and outliers. We then start identifying features of the data such as customer tenure, last purchase gap, average sentiment score, etc. We may need to enrich the data or review our understanding of the data.
  • Modeling
    In this phase we select models based on the goal. We may select a few models based on the task such as Text classification (Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Transformer models like BERT) for Sentiment Analysis, Regression models (XGBoost, LSTM, etc.) for Forecasts and for Classification (e.g., Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Neural Networks) for Conversions. We Train/test split or cross-validation across multiple models for comparison.
  • Evaluation
    We evaluate the results of the model and some business validation to make sure the results make sense in real life.
  • Deployment
    We then produce dashboards and reports to provide the final result and so that you can make decisions on it. We can also work with you to setup schedules to re-train the models and alerts based on conditions.
